Though more than a century old, four-part harmony stays in tune with today's world.
It toured 20 cities, was dedicated in front of the Washington Monument, and made the front cover of the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest American flag and the largest textile ever produced.
It had all begun innocently enough. The first suggestion was for the world's biggest firecracker. Then, "How about the biggest flag?"
Sixty-five. It used to be the magic number signaling time to slow down, quit work, buy that winter home in Florida, spend more time with the grandkids. Not anymore.
